SOME excerpts from the article:

She stated” inquiries about the arrangement are part of a character assassination effort being undertaken by a group trying to get her and three other individuals recalled from the Chippewa Valley school board.”

She said the matter” had been reviewed by legal counsel and “they found no conflict of interest”. “But she declined to provide a copy of the legal opinion, or identify who rendered or requested it.”

[Who was the LEGAL COUNSEL in this case? Could a local judge have provided an opinion? . Which entity [CV board or MEA, or both] would have been worried about a conflict of interest enough to get an opinion , if there was no conflict. Was Ms Pyden concerned being an attorney herself that it might be a conflict or unlawful and  have sought the opinion herself?

We can only guess unless we see the opinion. Or get one ourselves.

She voted to approve a yearlong extension of the contract between an MEA affiliate, the Chippewa Valley Education Association, and the school board. A 2019 MEA article on the teachers union at Chippewa Valley the union stated: “Local 1 represents most educators in the following school districts: Anchor Bay, Armada, Center Line, Chippewa Valley,…………

She  denied that any financial or ethical conflict exists in a brief interview with Michigan Capitol Confidential on March 9

, and     “This is 100% character assassination    … and I’m choosing not to participate”.

Have to also wonder about the ethics of the Super and the rest of the Vintage board members .( not the 2 new ones thrown into the lion’s pit)

Statement she made while running for Judgeship: “Reason No. 3 of 13 of why I run: Because I know that proven leadership matters. Being a leader means being able to defend your hard choices with principled reasoning and integrity-……. I’d proudly stand behind every one of the decisions I have made for Chippewa Valley and in the courtroom while litigating a case. ”

Start defending this choice pretty quick; like right now.

The rest of the board will have some explaining to do and their own hard choice to make  They can’t claim they don’t know now.

Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus  is a Latin phrase meaning “false in one thing, false in everything.”

—What else could be going on at the District Headquarters @19120 Cass Ave that we don’t know about??
